Excavator Course
The Excavator Program Mountain Track’s Excavator Program is designed to give at-risk young people the essential skills, training and hours required to become qualified, highly skilled and employable excavator drivers. Trained by qualified instructors with natural rapport building skills our young people learn technical proficiency as it relates to excavator driving. For instance, a deep understanding of the excavator’s controls, functions and attachments. They learn and develop their hand-eye co-ordination. Operators need to be able to control the machine's movements smoothly, accurately position the bucket, and manipulate the controls with finesse. Developing this skill is important for achieving precise digging, loading, and lifting. As part of the training, they focus on situational awareness. Operators need to be aware of their surroundings, including the location of other workers, overhead power lines, underground utilities, and potential hazards. This skill is vital as it helps operators avoid accidents, protect themselves and others, and prevent damage to property and equipment. Communication and Collaboration is another vital component to excavator driving. Operators need to coordinate with other team members, such as ground workers, crane operators, and site supervisors. Clear and concise communication prevents misunderstandings, improves workflow efficiency, and enhances overall project coordination And finally, the training places great focus on safety and compliance, our top priority at Mountain Track. We ensure that our trainee operators have a thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices. They must adhere to site-specific safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow safe operating procedures. Upon completion of the excavator training and with extensive driving experience behind them our participants are well placed to gain solid, long-term employment, in well-paying, highly sort-after industries. Research has shown that the majority of heavy equipment operators are highly satisfied in their employment. Which is what we wish for all our young graduates. Beyond the pay and benefits, employees who go into the construction industry tend to find their work both challenging and satisfying as they get to see the material, tangible results of their work.
